Internal Concert

On the eve of their participation in the choral competition in Hasselt, organized by Koor&Stem, Lassenne Vocale presents this program before a small, invited audience. This intimate performance serves both as a musical offering and as a final moment of reflection before taking the stage.

The program traces a journey through expressions of supplication, exultation, and transcendence. It opens with Robert Ramsey’s O vos omnes, a poignant plea drawn from the Lamentations of Jeremiah, in which sorrow and stillness intertwine with restrained beauty. Ludo Claesen’s Ad te levavi, by contrast, lifts its gaze upward in serene confidence, its luminous harmonies echoing hope and devotion.

In Damijan Močnik’s Acclamatio, fervent rhythmic energy and dense choral textures give voice to a jubilant cry of praise, before yielding to the introspective lyricism of Johannes Brahms’ Letztes Glück from Fünf Gesänge, Op. 104—a meditation on fleeting joy and the quiet acceptance of time’s passing. The soundscape broadens in Pēteris Vasks’ Mate Saule (Mother Sun), where radiant Baltic sonorities evoke nature’s vastness and spiritual renewal. The program closes with Eric Whitacre’s With a lily in your hand, setting a text by Federico García Lorca—a piece of shimmering tenderness and mystery, uniting passion and calm in a final gesture of light.
