COLLABORATION CONCERT WITH PROYECTOELE, CARLOS CANSINO (CONDUCTOR)

Under the title Northern Light, Southern Flame, this collaboration between the Brussels-based choir Lassenne Vocale and Seville’s ProyectoeLe brings together musical landscapes shaped by different cultural horizons yet united through the expressive power of choral sound. The program moves between the shimmering sonorities of northern composers and the warmth and vitality of southern traditions: from the haunting atmosphere of Diederik van der Laag’s Nevermore and O Quam Amata – Musica Vitae, the quiet winter reflection of Eric Whitacre’s Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening, and the pastoral brightness of Ralph Vaughan Williams’ Over Hill, Over Dale, to the luminous sacred intensity of Jevgeņijs Ustinkovs’ Stabat Mater and Michael John Trotta’s Dies Irae.

ProyectoeLe responds with music that spans the introspective spirituality of Herbert Howells’ Requiem aeternam I & II, the vibrant choral folklore of Veljo Tormis’ Jaanilaul, the radiant sacred celebration of Colin Mawby’s Alleluia, Christus resurrexit, and the shimmering textures of Bernat Vivancos’ Le cri des bergers.

The two choirs finally unite in a shared sonic space, culminating in two contemporary works—Greta’s Cantata No. 8 and Negros fantasmas—written by the conductors of the ensembles themselves, Carlos Cansino and Ivan Yohan, bringing the northern light and southern flame together in a vibrant musical encounter.
