SUNRISE is a luminous musical collaboration between two Belgian choirs—Ishango Chamber Choir and Lassenne Vocale—and the Vilnius University Chamber Orchestra from Lithuania. Together, they present a program that journeys from silence to light, from reflection to radiant unity.
The first half opens with expressions of resilience and hope: Kim André Arnesen’s Even When He Is Silent and Dominick DiOrio’s vibrant Day Of Fire And Sun, performed by Ishango Chamber Choir. Lassenne Vocale follows with music of deep stillness and clarity, from Phillip A. Cooke’s serene O Lux Beata Trinitas to Vytautas Miškinis’ emotionally rich Neišeik, Saulala. The orchestra offers a moment of gentle lyricism with Juozas Naujalis’ Svajonė (The Dream), conducted by Modestas Jankūnas.
The second half is devoted to Ola Gjeilo’s Sunrise Mass, a soaring four-part work for choir and string orchestra. From the cosmic mystery of The Spheres to the grounded warmth of Identity & The Ground, this mass bridges the sacred and the secular, the intimate and the universal.SUNRISE is a shared celebration of light, sound, and human connection across borders.
